Women's Education and Family Welfare: Empowerment as a Path to Social Change

This paper examines the relationship between women's education and family welfare through a qualitative literature study approach. The analysis synthesizes theoretical frameworks and empirical findings from education, gender studies, and social welfare. The findings reveal that women's education influences family welfare through multiple interconnected mechanisms including economic capacity enhancement, decision-making autonomy, health practices, childcare quality, social networks, value changes, time management, fertility reduction, adaptive capacity, mental health, political participation, and value transmission to subsequent generations. However, this influence does not occur automatically or uniformly. Various moderating and mediating factors affect the strength and direction of the relationship, such as education quality, socio-cultural environment, public policies, access to support services, employment opportunities, social support, macroeconomic conditions, partner's education level, individual characteristics, basic infrastructure availability, and gender norms. Understanding these mechanisms and influencing factors is essential for designing effective policies and programs that leverage women's education to improve family welfare. The paper contributes to theoretical development in education and social welfare while providing practical guidance for policymakers and practitioners.
